Big
Boss Man...dead at 42 years of age.
I could sit here and quote Ray
Traylor's accolades from - and contributions to - the professional wrestling
industry, but the majority of the fans who will read this already know how
great Ray Traylor was.
I just wanted to take a moment to share a memory I have of the Big Boss
Man. I won't pretend that I knew the man, because I didn't.
However, I once had the privilege of being invited backstage at a WWF
house show in Houston, TX. Most of the "boys" were quiet
and some even rude. Then there were the others who were anxious to
just talk, have a laugh, and be around people. I remember Ray
Traylor took time out of his day to come over to me and introduce himself.
Ray said hello, talked for a minute, and then walked over to the curtain.
When I watched him near the curtain I saw one of the most amazing things.
Something that really can't be explained. I watched a transformation
from Ray Traylor to the Big Boss Man. Traylor transformed into the
character in a matter of seconds. He then walked through the curtain
and put on his show, just like he had done so many times before. I
believe that Ray believed in his character, his ability, and I believe he
enjoyed the sport as well as the fans. What more can a wrestling fan
like me ask?
Goodbye, Boss Man. You will be missed.
In Loving Memory of Ray Traylor (42)
